Dora Budor (*Croatia, lives in New York) and Noah Barker (*California, lives in New York) continue their collaborative artistic practice with a new video work – Monte Carlo Method, which premieres at n.b.k. in November 2026. The work departs from a mathematical model used to estimate possible outcomes of uncertain events. Originating in the Manhattan Project and central to financial forecasting, the method structures the film, which examines a city and a century built on chance. Monte Carlo Methode (Plakat) and Monte Carlo Method (Poster) refer to Dora Budor & Noah Barker’s exhibition in the n.b.k. Showroom in June 2026, which was conceived as a prelude to the film’s premiere. The primary role of a poster – to announce an upcoming event – is suggested by the title yet simultaneously dissolved by the absence of information regarding time and location. In contrast to the serial printing processes typical of mass-produced posters, these two works are offered through the n.b.k. Editions program in an extremely limited edition of just one copy plus one artist’s proof each. Although the two works appear almost identical at first glance, they contain subtle differences rooted in the inversion of perceived dualities.

Dora Budor’s and Noah Barker’s collaborative practice grows out of their shared interest in cartographies of power and desire, in which economic aspiration for progress meets psychological resonance.
