Monika Funke Stern
Monika Funke Stern (*1943 in Bergisch Gladbach / Germany, lives in Berlin and Düsseldorf / Germany) is a writer, director, producer, and media artist. From 1987 to 2008, she was a professor of Film and Video at the Hochschule Düsseldorf. Her videos and feature films move between experimental film and video art, employing a wide range of filmic techniques and effects as well as a strong dramaturgical cinematic language. Funke Stern’s signature visual style is accompanied by a strong commitment to her themes, which – drawing on elements of science fiction – develop a critical relationship to reality.
