Gary Hill

Gary Hill (*1951 in Santa Monica / USA, lives and works in Seattle / USA) began exploring the technical possibilities of electronic image-making in 1973. His late-1970s works focus on the relationship between image and sound and the development of analogies between language and electronic phenomena. Hill explores language as a system of meaning and signs in an intertextuality of image and sound, wherein writing becomes a videographic artistic tool.
