In her feminist and media-critical works, VALIE EXPORT (*1940 in Linz, lives and works in Vienna) has influenced generations of artists. Since the 1960s, she has created an extensive body of work that operates in the fields of performance, experimental film, expanded cinema and conceptual photography, while also investigating objects and texts through the lens of art history and feminism. VALIE EXPORT is one of the most influential conceptual artists working between media art, performance and film. Her edition Das Magische Spiel (The Magic Game, 2019), created for the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, is a photomontage based on a recording from the archive of the artist, and shows a back courtyard in the vicinity of the Vienna Museumsquartier. Behind a half-opened door it is possible to glimpse a leg, which is combined with digital representations of EXPORT's most recent object of research: the dice.

VALIE EXPORT's works have been shown internationally in countless solo and group exhibitions, most recently, among others: Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2018); Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz (2017; 2010); Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna (2017; 2015; 2014); Museum of Modern Art, New York (2016; 2015); Generali Foundation Vienna (2013); Kunsthaus Bregenz (2011); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2007). EXPORT participated twice in the Venice Biennale (2007; 1980), as well as in the Kassel Documenta (2007; 1997).
