VALIE EXPORT

VALIE EXPORT (*1940 in Linz / Austria, lives and works in Vienna) is one of the most important representatives of Conceptual media, performance, and film art and has had a lasting influence on generations of artists with her feminist work and media criticism. Since the 1960s, she has created an extensive body of work spanning performance, experimental film, expanded cinema, Conceptual photography, sculpture, and text, critically negotiating established narratives of art history and feminism. One of the artist’s most iconic works is her 1968 street action TAPP und TASTKINO, which presents film as a site of projection for male fantasies.
