Parallel to the exhibition Thomas Arslan at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), Arsenal is presenting a comprehensive retrospective of Thomas Arslan’s films: early short films from his student days at the DFFB (German Film and Television Academy Berlin), the Berlin trilogy about the Kottbusser Tor neighborhood in Berlin-Kreuzberg, a documentary journey through Turkey, and genre films such as his gangster movies and a western. The retrospective also explores the film aesthetics that have influenced Arslan and is accompanied by introductions and discussions featuring the filmmaker himself, along with numerous guests including Diedrich Diederichsen, Till Kadritzke, Anke Leweke, Sabine Nessel, and Serpil Turhan.
