Exclusive insights into the Gropius Bau's artist-in-residence program: Tour with Pallavi Paul
Thursday, Jun 15, 2023, 5 pm
With its artist-in-residence program, the Gropius Bau refers to the history of its own building: originally opened in 1881 as a museum of arts and crafts and equipped with numerous studios and workshops, craft training and artistic production took place here directly on site, parallel to the exhibition program. This expansion of the tasks and activities of a museum is reflected today in the invitation to artists to move into rooms in the Gropius Bau as part of a one-year residency and to pursue creative processes there. In recent years, Wu Tsang (2018), Otobong Nkanga (2019), Zheng Bo (2020), SERAFINE1369 (2021), and Ana Prvački (2021/2022) lived and worked in the Gropius Bau studio, presenting their works in solo exhibitions, events, and digital formats.
In 2023, artist and humanities scholar Pallavi Paul (*1987 in New Delhi) has been selected as Artist in Residence to pursue her artistic practice at Gropius Bau, which includes the media of film, installation, text, photography and performance. In the second half of the year, she will present her first major solo exhibition in Europe under the working title How Love Moves. In an exclusive tour, the members of n.b.k. will learn more about the artist-in-residence program. Together with the artist, the curatorial team will provide insight into the work on site, the preparation and the concept of the upcoming exhibition.
