Exhibition visit of Maria Lassnig – Werke aus der Sammlung Klewan at the Gutshaus Steglitz
Friday, Feb 24, 2023, 5 pm
In the municipal gallery at the Gutshaus Steglitz, also known as "Wrangelschlösschen" among Berliners, the exhibition Maria Lassnig – Werke aus der Sammlung Klewan can be seen until the end of February 2023. Maria Lassnig (*1919 in Carinthia †2014 in Vienna) is one of the greatest artists in the field of figurative painting and one of the most renown artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her oeuvre consists primarily of self-portraits, at the centre of which stands the artist's relationship to her own body. Lassnig's last solo exhibition in Berlin was in 1997 at the Neue Berliner Kunstverein and the DAAD Gallery. The current exhibition at Gutshaus Steglitz displays paintings from the 1960s alongside drawings, watercolors, and graphics from the 1970s to 1990s.
Brigitte Hausmann, Head of the Culture Department in the District Office of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, will guide a group of members of n.b.k. through the premises of the "Wrangelschlösschen" and provide us with insights into its past and present as well as into the exhibition of Maria Lassnig.
