In his videos, photographs, and installations, Niklas Goldbach (*1973 in Witten / Germany, lives in Berlin) uses complex narrative structures to explore dystopian situations and environments as well as social hierarchies and systems of power. He employs absurd and unsettling elements such as the cloning of a protagonist through frame-by-frame editing or the use of nearly consistent camera angles that lend photographic qualities to the video image. His works range from documentary surveys to affectively charged fictionalizations.
