Since 2005, Ingrid Mwangi (*1975 in Nairobi, lives in Berlin and Nairobi) and Robert Hutter (*1970 in Ludwigshafen / Germany, lives in Berlin and Nairobi) present their work – situated between photography, video, installation, and performance – as Mwangi Hutter, appearing as a collective individual. In their work, they try to address and transcend conventional notions of identity based on gender and cultural background. Their public actions are frequently directed at audiences on the street, attempting to evoke reactions from passers-by.
