The Leipzig-trained graphic artist and painter Lutz Dammbeck (*1948 in Leipzig / Germany, lives in Hamburg) has been producing films since 1976. These works are often based on animation. Fascinated by classical avant-garde film and expanded cinema, Dammbeck combined photography, drawing, live-action film, and found footage to create experimental film collages in the late 1970s. From 2000 to 2014, Lutz Dammbeck was a professor of New Media at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden.
