Lil Picard
The artist, actress, and journalist Lil Picard (*1899 in Landau in der Pfalz / Germany, †1994 in New York) emigrated to New York in 1936 due to the increasing antisemitism in Germany. There, she became successful as an art critic and visual artist. Her diverse body of work includes poetry, paintings, collages, assemblages, photographs, films, happenings, and performances. In 1965, Lil Picard met Andy Warhol and she maintained close relationships with other artists from the Factory. Starting in 1976, she also appeared in several films and worked as a critic for various art magazines and newspapers.
