Ivo Deković (*1952 in Šibenik / Croatia, lives in Düsseldorf / Germany) combines sculpture with documentary images and new technologies in his artistic practice. His early video works take documentary images as the starting point for transformations that reveal the tension between the essentialism of images and their potential for manipulation. In 1989, Deković became a professor in the department of Design at the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, where, in 1996, he founded Sub-Art, an experimental project for students to intensively explore marine worlds and the element of water.
