The films and video installations of Ann Oren (*1979 in Tel Aviv / Israel, lives in Berlin) explore elements of the performative, fantastical, and communicative in everyday social space. Drawing on legends and myths from the history of literature, theater, and film, Oren explores forms of public self-representation, collective desires, and the associated search for identity. The characters in her films and performative installations operate on the border between performer and audience – in a constant interplay between viewing and acting.
