Wedemeyer’s early video Mass is based on cross fades of found footage of mass agitation and demonstrations from the 1920s and fragments from historical films, for example, Sergei Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin (1925). His work, which often critically reflects the practice of documentary filmmaking by revealing subjective elements and including events behind the camera, focuses on the relationship between film, film production, and the audience.
