Anri Sala

Anri Sala (*1974 in Tirana/Albania, living and working in Berlin) graduated in fine art in 1996 from the National Academy of Art in Tirana and then continued his studies in Video at the Ecole nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; followed by studying film direction at Le Fresnoy Studio national des arts Contemporains in Tourcoing. His main form of artistic expression is video. In 2013, Sala represented France at the 55th Venice Biennale. So far he had exhibitions at, among others, Haus der Kunst Munich (2014); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2012); New Museum, New York (2011); MUMOK, Vienna (2009); dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel (2012). For Neuer Berliner Kunstverein he created a photographic edition of nine. The photo shows a disco ball that passes through a light and a dark side. Here, Sala focuses on a level of reality that lies beyond our awareness and in doing so, highlights unnoticed, subtle moments.
