Meeting point: Residenzstraße 42, in front of U-Bahnhof Franz-Neumann-Platz (U8)
Since 1989, the State of Berlin has sold almost 8,000 state-owned properties. The tour examines the sell-off in the 1990s and 2000s and visits five of those properties in the district of Wedding. Why were municipal properties privatized at all after reunification? What is there today and what can the city do now to protect itself from speculation? Florine Schüschke talks about the research in land register files and excerpts from the commercial register and reports on past and current urban development policies.
The tour starts at Franz-Neumann-Platz underground station (U8) and ends at Prinzenallee 58. From there it is a 20-minute walk to the Uferhallen, where Anna Lena Seiser is guiding you through the exhibition. The exhibition stays open until 8pm.
