Michael Glasmeier (b. 1951 in Bochum, living in Bremen and Berlin) studied philosophy, art history and literature at Technische Universität Berlin. In 1984, he took a doctoral degree on Karl Valentin at Philipps-Universität Marburg. His doctoral thesis
Karl Valentin. The comedian and the arts was published in 1987 by Carl Hanser Verlag, Munich and Vienna. Most recently, he published the volume Artists as Scientists, Art Historians and Writers with Salon Verlag, Cologne 2012. Michael Glasmeier taught at the School of Architecture and Civil Engeneering, Weimar (1992—1993) and at Braunschweig University of Art (1996—2005). Since 2005 he is Professor of Art History, Theory and History of Aesthetic Practice at University of the Arts Bremen. Alongside teaching Michael Glasmeier works as a curator and author.
