Artist Talk

With Massimiliano De Serio (artist, Turin), moderated by Kathrin Becker (head of n.b.k. Video-Forum) and Silke Wittig (n.b.k. Video-Forum)
In cooperation with Artists Film International (AFI)

The work STANZE (2010, 60 min) by Gianluca De Serio and Massimiliano De Serio is based on the experiences of political refugees from Somalia. The artists accompany the refugees on their return to the former camp in Turin, some dilapidated barracks, and they address Italy’s colonial past on the African continent. Using the example of Italy, the current migration policy within the Schengen area in the EU is demonstrated.

The event kicks off a series of video presentations in cooperation with Artists International Film, initiated by the Whitechapel Gallery in London. From March 22 to April 30, 2013, in the premises of n.b.k. Video Forum, works will be presented by Liu Chang, Gianluca De Serio/Massimiliano De Serio, Dan Finsel, Aleksandar Jestrović Jamesdin, Sefer Memişoğlu, Corin Sworn, and Nguyen Trinh Thi.
