Artist Talk
Tuesday, Dec 9, 2025, 7 pm
With Moyra Davey and Rosa Barba (artist, professor at the Department of Architecture / ETH Zurich, Berlin), moderated by Janique Vigier (editor of Granta magazine, London)
On the occasion of the first survey exhibition of the artist, filmmaker, and author Moyra Davey in Germany, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) presents a conversation between Davey and the artist Rosa Barba.
The practices of the two artists share a media-reflexive approach to photography and film that foregrounds the materiality of analogue image processes, and their material supports. In their work, they also frequently draw on existing textual and visual fragments as well as bodies of knowledge, which they distill into essayistic compositions. Building on an ongoing exchange between the two artists, the discussion – moderated by the art theorist Janique Vigier – considers Davey’s oeuvre and addresses, among other themes, artistic approaches to chance and temporality, as well as modes of archiving and remembering.
