Kasper König, one of the outstanding personages of the international art world and longstanding director of renowned exhibition venues such as Portikus in Frankfurt or Museum Ludwig in Cologne, meets artist Alexandra Pirici and curator Raluca Voinea for a panel discussion on the first solo exhibition by Alexandra Pirici in Germany: Alexandra Pirici. Aggregate (August 12 – 17, 2017).

Prof. Kasper König (born 1943 in Mettingen) ranks among Germany’s most important curators. In 1977, together with Klaus Bußmann, he initiated
Skulptur Projekte Münster. In 1985, König was appointed to the newly founded chair of public art at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Three years later, he became a professor at Städelschule Frankfurt, which he led as rector from 1989 onwards. Between 2000 and 2012, he was director of Museum Ludwig in Cologne. In 2014, as chief curator he organized the Manifesta 10 in St. Petersburg. As an exhibition maker, König organized numerous major exhibitions, for example Westkunst in 1981 at the Cologne exhibition halls, Von hier aus in 1984 at Messe Düsseldorf, and Der zerbrochene Spiegel in 1993 in Vienna and Hamburg.

Alexandra Pirici (born 1982 in Bucharest) lives and works in Bucharest. Most recently, her projects were shown at, a. o., Berlin Biennale (2016), Tate Modern, London, and Tate Liverpool (2016); Off-Biennale Budapest (2015); Manifesta 10, St. Petersburg (2014); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2014); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2014); Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw (2014); Venice Biennale (2013). In 2015, she received the Excellence Award of the National Dance Center, Bucharest. In 2017, Alexandra Pirici is a participant of, a. o.,
Skulptur Projekte Münster.

Raluca Voinea (born 1978 in Braşov) is a curator and art critic. Since 2012, she is co-director of the Association and coordinated the projects of the Showroom in Bucharest. Voinea has been co-editor of the magazine IDEA art + society since 2008 and editor of IDEA’s “Exhibitions” series. In 2013, Voinea was co-curator of the Romanian pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale with the project
An Immaterial Retrospective of the Venice Biennale by the artists Alexandra Pirici and Manuel Pelmuş.
