Dec 5, 2026 – Feb 7, 2027

Ground Floor

Curators: Marius Babias, Krisztina Hunya

Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) presents the first solo exhibition in Germany by artist Gala Porras-Kim. In her work, Porras-Kim examines the interplay between objects, the material and ritual conditions of their creation, and the conventions that govern their collection, taxonomic classification, conservation, and presentation. Taking the museum’s staging power as her point of departure, she seeks to heighten awareness of its codes, while understanding collection objects as repositories of continuously unfolding relationships between human and non-human actors. Porras-Kim has developed a survey of works for her exhibition at n.b.k., comprising new and existing pieces, including drawings, installations, and videos.

Gala Porras-Kim (*1984 in Bogotá) is a Colombian-Korean-American artist based in Los Angeles. She was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2025. Her work is featured in the Applied Arts Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Recent solo presentations have been shown at the Museo delle Civiltà in Rome (2025), MOCA Cleveland (2025), MUAC Mexico (2024), and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (2023).
