This video refers to Duchamp’s late work Étant donnés: 1° la chute d’eau 2° le gaz d’éclairage ... which was inspired during a stay in Chexbres high above Lake Geneva. The waterfall of Le Forestay was an important motif of the work. Bachmann and Banz reconstructed Duchamp’s exact standpoint during his prior studies for the work and took numerous shots of the landscape over several years that they let flow as a slideshow into the video.
