Bewegung in Plastik

The technical laconicism of the title Bewegung in Plastik (Movement in plastic) pertains to Frenzel’s overall oeuvre: her work generally consists of a performance in which the artist engages with the limits of an artificial skin (plastic, rubber) or an element (water). In Under Pressure, the artist sets herself “under pressure,” with this self-experimentation referring at the same time to biological metaphors (birth, biotope), as well as to idiosyncratic embodiments of categorical experience, for example, time in Chronos.
