Nairy Baghramian

The work of Nairy Baghramian (b. 1971 in Isfahan, Iran, living in Berlin) includes sculptures, installations and photographic works. With a subtle and formally precise approach to space and form she examines the institutional context and reviews existing rules and structures. The piece Beliebte Stellen (Hot Spots) (2014) marks spots that refer to specific hanging traditions in the institutional showroom and thus examine their practice of presenting works of art. Most recently her works were shown, among others, at Venice Biennale (2015; 2011); Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2014); The Art Institute of Chicago (2014); 8th Berlin Biennale (2014); Sculpture Center, New York (2013); Glasgow International (2012); Vancouver Contemporary Art Gallery (2012); Serpentine Gallery, London (2010).
