Vito Acconci
Shoot
1974, 00:10:18, NTSC, Farbe
This film consists of one stationary shot of a distorted flashing light effect, which continues throughout the piece. Vito Acconci can be heard making sounds, as if a shooting gun, coupled with a constant percussive tapping, which seems synchronized with the flashing lights. Acconci enters the shot every few moments and rants a free flowing narrative, either facing the camera, or showing and rubbing a part of his body. His narrative, sometimes clearly in an ironic tone, deals sporadically with themes of American machoism, masculinity, military power, and his Italian-American identity. (lg)
