Sandra Becker deals with images as a form of notation or pattern making. This piece, divided into three segments, begins with images of people s legs as they stand or walk over a reflective surface. The forms are seen as abstract darkened shapes, shown repeatedly in a certain rhythm. Segment two deals with images of faces, especially one profile of a woman, shown in repetition as she passes the camera. The third segment is a distorted scene of a patterned floor, as figures pass, their movements are rough and irregular. There is a sense in all three parts, of surveillance and being watched, as if these images are captured using a surveillance camera in a public space. The greenish glass coloured light and the choppy movements of the figures, due to many abrupt cuts, make them seem mechanical, like in a video game or imagery from an infrared camera. (lg)
