This work is a documentary about Charlotte Moorman, the cellist and performance artist who famously collaborated with Nam June Paik and preformed some of John Cage s more outrageous pieces. In this work she is remembered fondly by Paik and many artists and friends, as being a charismatic avant-garde cellist, ready to try any new cello sculpture or video performance designed for her. She collaborated with Paik on his famous “Video Cello" which she preformed in several videos and live performances, as well as numerous other newly invented cellos. She preformed in extreme circumstances such as while flying over a field, while being completely nude, with a video-bra, and in countless other arrangements. Her transformation from a classically educated musician to an avant-garde performance artist, is dramatic and fascinating to watch. Her work with Paik pioneered the performance field and marked a movement of artists, largely classically trained musicians, who used their formal training in experimental and highly innovative and ground breaking work.
