This work involves five layers of documentary footage filmed in Mexico, arranged in rows of multiple screens. The images are constantly moving, and create a multi-layered collage of Mexican landscapes. Engel stacks images of sky, phone wires, ancient ruins, and colourful every day markets, people, and river side scenery. With the screens arranged in slightly delayed timing, she creates a unique rhythm and patterning of forms through the rows. The result is an interesting combination of various land- and cityscapes, colours and natural textures, composing a complete portrait of the rich visual material she found in Mexico. (lg)
