Video–Forum Coproductions

Video–Forum regularly co-produces new video works by international artists. These are then presented to the public and debated at events like screenings, artists talks, or exhibitions. It is the aim of these co-productions to foster contemporary positions and produce works by international artists to round off the collection. Early co-productions – videos by Wolf Vostell (“Desastres”, 1972), Allan Kaprow (“Time Pieces”, 1973), or Rebecca Horn (“Berlin-Übungen in neun Stücken”, 1974/75) – have become central works of video art. In addition to supporting artists, there are also thematic emphases in the collection, such as the Cold War and the division of Berlin with works by Rotraut Pape (“Die Mauer: Der negative Horizont”, 1992), Antal Lux (“Gemauerte Seelen”, 1995), and others. Another emphasis lies on approaches that reflect on the media and examine social issues critically, like those by Bjørn Melhus (“The Oral Thing”, 2001), Mathilde ter Heijne (“The Invisible Hero”, 2005), Christian Jankowski (“Kochstudio” with Dr. Alfred Biolek, 2003), and Artur Żmijewski (“Dieter”/”Patricia”/”Ursula”, 2007). The most recent coproduction was the work by Anetta Mona Chişa and Lucia Tkáčová (“Manifesto of Futurist Woman (Let`s Conclude))”, 2008), and Ciprian Mureşan (“The Pioneer”), 2010.
