In Free Society Garrin uses digitally edited images of military parades, highsociety receptions, as well as worldwide riots, including the 1988 street battles at New York’s Tompkins Square against the expulsion of the homeless, all set to the music of Elliot Sharp. Garrin, formerly Nam June Paik’s assistant, deals with social relations in the USA; his 1988 shots were broadcast around the country and led to an investigation of the police operation.
