Matthias Glatzel

WeissabgleichEisenkuss

In his work, Glatzel seeks a symbiosis of painting, drawing, as well as video and film. In his videos, such as Eisenkuss, he is concerned with questions of image construction. He uses found footage of television reporting from ARD and ZDF of the controversial visit of U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Chancellor Helmut Kohl to the soldier’s cemetery in Bitburg in 1985. Glatzel shows the material in part and with a strict formal structure, and thus questions modes of representation and processes of perception.
