Marc Aschenbrenner

Zweite Sonne

In Zweite Sonne, a man crawls across a black tarpaulin, a Sisyphus without a boulder who is repeatedly returned to a primeval soup by the slipper y material. The tarpaulin becomes a balloon; the man now suddenly becomes the captain of this air vehicle, drifting in another basal element—until he has to allow the connection to be severed: a playful look at weightlessness and gravity. The works of Aschenbrenner, who came to video from painting, are called “metaphysical fictions.”
