Larissa Sansour

Happy Days

Sansour’s works are concerned with the political situation in the Middle East, especially with the life reality of the Palestinians. In terms of form, she often uses the aesthetic of popular culture. In Happy Days, she combines snapshots of everyday life in the Palestinian territories and uses the theme song from the US-American 1970s sit-com Happy Days as background music. The aesthetic divergence between image and sound thus becomes a sarcastic commentary on what is shown.
