Bruce Nauman

By engaging with minimalist music and contemporary dance, Nauman created his first conceptual film works. He explores conventions of behavior and the constitution of meaning, communication and language, and plays with formal disturbances, for example when in Lip Sync the image and sound are presented out of sync. In Bouncing in the Corner No. 1, he exaggerates the use of simple filmic devices like the close up, the time lapse, or the endless loop to the absurd, with reduced repetitive actions.
