Annika Ström

Summer 96six songs for a time like this

Summer 96, a music video that looks homemade, shows Ström as a singer of self-composed love songs in her parents’ house. The pastiche does not attack the strategies of the pop system that it uses, but targets the construction of affect and intimacy. Ström’s video works, in which she frequently plays the starting role, also question the star cult in the art world by adapting mechanisms of self-presentation in an ironic fashion.
