David Zink Yi

David Zink Yi (*1973 in Lima/Peru, living and working in Lima and Berlin), from 1997 to 1999, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and, from 1998 to 2003, at the University of Arts in Berlin. In 2004, he received a Schmidt-Rottluff scholarship, and the Ars Viva prize, followed in 2005 by the MAK Schindler Scholarship and a scholarship for the Villa Massimo in Rome 2007 / 2008.

In his videos, photographs, sculptures and installations, the artist is dealing with the structures and conditions that determine human life and coexistence in communities. In addition to his solo exhibition at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2012), his works were shown, among others, at Hauser & Wirth, New York (2011), at the 10th Havana Biennale and at Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin (2009). The black and white, long exposure photographs of the exclusive edition for Neuer Berliner Kunstverein show a public park in Havana at night.
