Artist Talk

with Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil (artist, Paris) and Marc Bembekoff (curator, Director Centre d’art contemporain La Halle des bouchers, Vienne)
In English language

Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, in his post-conceptual art practice, questions the paradoxes of images and deconstructs stereotypes communicated by media. Incessantly he questions the media image production and the subliminally transported political contents. Since the mid-1990s, he has been uncovering those invisible structures that condition our relationship with the media-reality: visibility - invisibility; clarity - opacity; memory - amnesia. In a conversation with Marc Bembekoff, his work, as well as issues of future projects, are discussed in the light of social developments.

Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil (b. 1968, living and working in Paris) received the 2010 Prix Meurice for contemporary art. From 2009 to 2010, he was a fellow of the Académie de France at the Villa Medici in Rome. Exhibitions include: Musée d’Art Contemporain, Vitry-sur-Seine (2013); La Friche Belle de Mai, Marseille (2013); Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris (2013); Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, São Paulo (2012); Maison des Arts, Malakoff (2010); Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2010); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2006); La Caixa Foundation, Barcelona (2005); Swiss Institute, New York (2004).

Marc Bembekoff (b. 1978, living and working in Vienne and Paris) is a curator and Director of the Centre d’art contemporain La Hall des bouchers in Vienne. Before, he worked as a curator at the Palais de Tokyo and the Musée Rodin in Paris. In 2015 he will curate the Croatian Pavillon at the 56th Venice Biennale.
