Renée Green
(b. 1959 in Cleveland, Ohio, living in Somerville, Massachusetts and New York) is an artist, filmmaker and writer as well as professor at the MIT Program in Art, Culture & Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In her works, Renée Green investigates mechanisms of individual and collective memory as well as our perception of the world, of history and of the “other”. In the film Begin Again, Begin Again (2015), Green examines those efforts that living beings are making to start all over again. The volume Other Planes of There for the first time comprises her essays published between 1981 and 2010. The texts encompass such topics as sound, cinema, literature and time-based media. In addition, Renée Green participated, among others, at the 10th Istanbul Biennial (2007), the 2nd Berlin Biennale (2001) and the 45th Venice Biennale (1993).

André Rottmann studied Art History, Literature, Comparative Literature and French at Humboldt Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and Université Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux III. In 2011, he was a guest researcher at the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities in Los Angeles, since 2012, he is a research fellow of the college research group “BildEvidenz” at Freie Universität Berlin. From 2006 to 2010, Rottmann was chief editor of Texte zur Kunst, since 2011, he is a member of its editorial board.
